Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's

The experience

The Vatican is large, crowded and full of masterpieces one after another: without someone to choose what to see, the risk is leaving tired and confused. This tour lasts three hours and covers the three main sites, the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica, with pre-booked entries and the Vatican's official headsets. It has a 4.6 out of 5 rating with over 11,000 reviews, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before.

According to the listing, the route passes through the Pio Clementino Museum, with the Laocoön and the Apollo Belvedere, then the Belvedere Courtyard, the Gallery of Candelabras, the Gallery of Tapestries, with the Flemish works by Raphael's pupils, and the Gallery of Maps. In the Sistine Chapel you spend about twenty minutes under Michelangelo's frescoes. Then the basilica, with the Pietà and Bernini's baldachin, and the finish in St Peter's Square, under the dome and the colonnade.

The meeting point is at Brastours in Via Santamaura 28, where according to the listing you will find free Wi-Fi and a charging station for your phone. A illustrated guide to the Sistine Chapel is also included. The reserved entries skip the ticket office queue, not the security checks, which remain for everyone. And the official dress code applies: no sleeveless or low-cut clothing, no shorts above the knee; the listing also asks for covered shoulders.

What travelers say

★★★★★

It was an excellent visit to the three main sites of Vatican City. There is a lot of walking, but it was all manageable because the guide took breaks when needed and there was always a place to sit while listening. We had about 15 minutes in the Sistine Chapel to sit and enjoy the ceiling, which we could have looked at forever.

  • In the Sistine Chapel, photography and filming with any device is forbidden, and absolute silence is required: keep your phone in your pocket.
  • No knives, scissors, or metal objects, no large bags: according to the listing, they are not allowed. Bring your ID, as it may be required under the new security rules.
  • The Vatican Museums are closed on Sundays, except on the last Sunday of the month, which is free from 9:00 to 14:00; the next ones are 25 October and 29 November; 27 December would be free according to the rule, but the official calendar has not confirmed it yet. They are also closed on 8, 25, and 26 December.
  • The official Vatican Museums ticket costs €20, plus €5 if you book online: the comparison with other attractions is in the 2026 ticket guide.
