2026 has changed three prices in Rome. From 2 February you pay €2 for the area in front of the Trevi Fountain basin, and from 1 July the Pantheon has gone from €5 to €7 and Castel Sant'Angelo to €18. The Colosseum remains at €18, the Vatican Museums at €20.

This guide collects the official rates for an adult, from the sites of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, the Vatican Museums, the Italian Ministry of Culture and Roma Capitale. Next to them you will find the free days, the reductions and where a GetYourGuide tour adds something: a guide, a pre-booked entry, a better time slot.

The short answer

Colosseum with Roman Forum and Palatine €18; Vatican Museums €20 at the ticket office and €25 online; Pantheon €7; Galleria Borghese €16 plus €2 compulsory booking fee; Castel Sant'Angelo €18; Trevi Fountain €2 for non-residents. St Peter's is free. Under 18s get free entry to state sites, and on the first Sunday of the month everyone does.

How much do Rome attraction tickets cost in 2026?

From €2 to €25 for an adult: €18 the Colosseum, €20 the Vatican Museums (€25 online), €7 the Pantheon, €16 plus €2 the Borghese, €18 Castel Sant'Angelo, €2 the Trevi basin. St Peter's is free.

These are the official full prices for 2026. At state sites the reduced ticket of €2 applies to those aged 18 to 25 (at the Colosseum, for EU citizens), and under 18s get free entry.

Two prices have their own rules. At the Vatican Museums online booking adds €5, and tickets are non-refundable. At Galleria Borghese booking is compulsory and costs €2, even for those who get in free.

How much does the Colosseum ticket cost and how do you book it?

18 euros for the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine ticket, valid for 24 hours; 24 euros for the Full Experience with the Arena, the underground or the Attico. It is bought on ticketing.colosseo.it, up to 30 days in advance.

The basic ticket includes one entry to the Colosseum, the first and second levels, for a maximum of 75 minutes, and one entry to the Roman Forum and Palatine within 24 hours. The Full Experience is valid for two days and extends the Colosseum visit to 90 minutes; the version with the Arena is sold only from 7 days in advance. At the same price of 18 euros, there are also the 24h Only Arena and the Forum Pass SUPER, which does not include the Colosseum.

The rules that catch people out: the ticket is named, at the entrance they check the document, and for minors the ticket is free but must be booked online. With the Roma Pass the ticket costs 11.50 euros. On the first Sunday of the month entry is free, but tickets are only collected at the ticket office, in order of arrival. The ticket does not need to be printed: the receipt on the smartphone is enough.

With a guide, the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine tour starts from $55 and includes the official 18 euro ticket, or the 24 euro one with the Arena. It can be cancelled free up to 3 days before, not up to 24 hours like the other experiences on the list.

How much do the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel cost?

20 euros at the ticket office and 25 euros with online booking; the reduced ticket is 10 euros, 15 euros online. Under 7 years old enter free, and on the last Sunday of the month it is free for everyone, from 9:00 to 14:00.

The ticket includes the Museums and the Sistine Chapel; St Peter's Basilica is a separate entry, free. Tickets are non-refundable and valid only for the indicated day. The official site is tickets.museivaticani.va, and the Museums warn against similar domains that charge more.

How strict is the dress code? Strict enough to leave you outside: no sleeveless or low-cut clothing, shorts above the knee, miniskirts or hats. In the Sistine Chapel, photography and filming with any device is forbidden, and you must remain silent. All the details are in the guide to mistakes to avoid.

Guided tours start from $64 for Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's in three hours, with reserved entry and official headsets, and from $122 for early entry, which includes the booking fees. In both cases, security checks remain for everyone.

Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Galleria Borghese: how much do they cost?

The Pantheon 7 euros from 1 July 2026, the Trevi Fountain basin 2 euros for non-residents, the Galleria Borghese 16 euros plus 2 euros for compulsory booking.

Pantheon. Full ticket €7, reduced €2 for ages 18-25, free under 18 and for those attending mass: sales stop one hour before services. Entry is by time slots, every day from 9:00 to 19:00. Tickets are sold on the portal and the Musei Italiani app, or at the ticket offices and totems on site, and there is no priority entry.

Trevi Fountain. From 2 February 2026, €2 for the area in front of the basin, from 9:00 to 22:00, including the first Sunday. Free for residents of Rome and the Metropolitan City, children up to 5 years old, people with disabilities and one companion.

Galleria Borghese. Full ticket €16, €11 for the last time slot; reduced €2 for ages 18-25; free under 18. Booking is compulsory for everyone and costs €2, even for free tickets. Visits last two hours, from Tuesday to Sunday, with last entry at 17:45; closed on Mondays. The official booking line is 06 32810.

On GetYourGuide the Pantheon ticket with the official audio guide starts from $8: it is for a fixed time slot, and the listing asks you to respect it precisely. Galleria Borghese with audio guide starts from $90, with entry accompanied by a coordinator; according to the listing, for now children aged 6-17 must buy an adult ticket.

Who gets free entry to Rome's attractions?

Under 18 years old at state sites, under 7 at the Vatican Museums, up to 5 years old at Trevi. For everyone, the first Sunday of the month at state sites and civic museums, the last at the Vatican Museums.

The age-based free entry is the most useful for families. At the Colosseum, Pantheon, Borghese and Castel Sant'Angelo, minors under 18 do not pay. At the Colosseum and Borghese, the free ticket must be booked, and at the Borghese the 2 euros booking fee remains.

Two exceptions to remember. At Trevi Fountain the €2 fee is also charged on the first Sunday. And the MIC Card, the civic museums pass, is not valid on the first Sunday. The dates for the coming months are in the article on free museums.

Is the Roma Pass worth it in 2026?

Only if you really use it. The 48-hour pass costs 38 euros with one free entry, the 72-hour pass 62.90 euros with two; both include public transport and discounts at other sites.

The calculation is done against the ATAC ticket. Transport alone costs 15 euros for 48 hours and 22 euros for 72 hours. The difference, 23 euros for the 48-hour pass and 40.90 for the 72-hour pass, must come back to you in free entries and discounts.

An example with the 48-hour pass: if the free entry is worth 18 euros and you use the discount at the Colosseum, 11.50 euros instead of 18, you save 24.50 euros, just over the 23 euros difference. With the 72-hour pass you need two free entries of value and some discounts. Before buying it, check the list of sites on the official Roma Pass portal; at the Galleria Borghese, booking is required even with the Roma Pass.

Where to buy official tickets in Rome?

On the museums' websites: ticketing.colosseo.it for the Colosseum, tickets.museivaticani.va for the Vatican Museums, the Italian Museums portal for the Pantheon. Or at the ticket offices, where available.

Each site has its own sales calendar. The Colosseum opens sales 30 days in advance, the Full Experience with the Arena 7 days in advance. The Pantheon releases tickets once a month, around the middle of the month for the following month. For the Galleria Borghese there is also the official phone line, 06 32810.

The real risk is sites that imitate the official ones. The Vatican Museums state this on their website: there are similar domains that charge more. Write the address by hand, or buy from a platform that clearly states what it sells.

On GetYourGuide, the experiences in this guide all have free cancellation, up to 24 hours before and for the Colosseum up to 3 days before; official Vatican Museums tickets, however, are non-refundable. If your travel dates might change, this is a difference that matters.

What does a GetYourGuide tour add to the official ticket?

A guide, a pre-booked entry, a better time slot or transport. Where the listing says so, the official ticket is included in the price.

The official ticket gets you in. A tour tells you what you are looking at and removes the boring part: booking, timing, ticket collection. The table lines up the options in this guide.

Two things to know. Security checks in the Vatican and St Peter's apply to everyone, even with a pre-booked entry. And the dome of St Peter's is only included in the basilica tour if you choose the option: with the elevator you reach the first terrace, then there are about 320 steps left, according to the listing.

Yes, at the ticket office, €20 full and €10 reduced. Online adds €5, with timed entry. Tickets are non-refundable and valid only for the indicated day.

How much does it cost to climb St Peter’s dome?

According to a travel guide updated in April 2026, at the ticket office about €10 on foot and about €15 with the lift. In winter the dome opens from 7:30 to 17:00, and the St Peter’s tour includes it if you choose the option.
