Galleria Borghese, audio guide or guided tour

The experience

You cannot enter the Galleria Borghese without a reservation. In 2026, the official ticket for the Galleria Borghese costs €16, plus a mandatory €2 booking fee for everyone, even those who enter for free; the reduced ticket is €2 (ages 18-25), and under 18s enter for free. Visits last two hours, in fixed time slots; the Gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00, with last entry at 17:45, and is closed on Mondays, 25 December, and 1 January. This ticket solves the hardest part: you have a guaranteed spot, and a coordinator accompanies you to the entrance.

At the meeting point, in Piazzale Scipione Borghese 5, the coordinator gives you a QR code to download the app and use the audio guide on your phone; if you chose the guided tour option, the visit is led by a person. Inside, according to the listing, you will find works by Bernini, Canova, Caravaggio, and Titian: Titian’s Sacred and Profane Love, Caravaggio’s St. Jerome Writing, Raphael’s Deposition. The Galleria’s family guide also mentions Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne, The Rape of Proserpina, and David, Canova’s Pauline Borghese, and Caravaggio’s Boy with a Basket of Fruit. The price starts from $90 per person (GetYourGuide, October 2026), with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Two things to know. The listing warns that it currently sells only adult tickets even to young people aged 6-17, who would normally enter for free; under 6s enter for free. Bring your own headphones and a charged phone: the audio guide works through that. Animals, suitcases, large bags, and umbrellas are not allowed, and the tour is not suitable for people with mobility issues. At the exit, there are the gardens of Villa Borghese, with a view of Piazza del Popolo, as the listing notes.

What travelers say

★★★★★

The value for money is much better than the Vatican Museums. Entry is limited to a certain number of people every two hours, so there's no crowd, and you can really study some works instead of rushing past. Sabrina was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Highly recommended.
